Bazaar 2019

  • Saturday, October 12, 2019

  • 7:00pm (early entry at 6:00pm)

  • 18 & up

BAZAAR is in all white, capital, ornate letters with the tagline "A micro immersive carnival" beneath. In the background is a night sky, bright stars, and and red-orange moon.

Cross the arch and leave the real world behind as you enter Bazaar, Bricolage’s adventurous annual fundraiser. Bazaar is a magical, sprawling event with fire-breathers, acrobats, carnival games, and dynamically designed micro-immersive pods crafted by local artists of all kinds. This festival for the senses offers sensational food, delectable drinks, and surprises around every corner.

New! Bazaar Silent Auction

For the first time ever we’re opening the Bazaar silent auction up to everyone! Whether you’re with us in the fray or on the couch at home, you can bid on your favorite packages starting right now! Please note that the auction closes promptly at 10:30pm on Saturday, Oct 12th.

The Rundown

Bazaar takes place at the corner of Josephine and S. 21st Street in South Side, Rain or Shine! The attire of the evening is carnival-inspired, and you can get inspired by this look book put together by Bricolage costume designer Madison Hack. Insider tip: avoid uncomfortable shoes; this is an evening of adventure, after all!

Podville
Craving something a little more personal? Choose your own adventure in Podville! Step into one of our micro immersive pods and get transported to another world. We’re giving local artists, from installation artists to escape room designers to musicians and performers, each a 12’ X 8’ X 8’ storage pod to create unique and intimate encounters devised to tantalize your senses. We won’t tell you what’s inside each pod; we want to see if you’re game.

Midway Party
Mingle with fire-eaters, stilt walkers, the strange and the stranger. Test your dexterity and wit at the Bazaar Games Alley and win carnival tickets to earn fantastical prizes. Delight your senses with elevated festival food, wine, Grist House beer, and cocktails handcrafted by Boyd and Blair & and BLY mixologists.

The Carnival Club
Grandstand or Center Ring supporters can find refuge in the midst of revelry with savory delights and a private performance that assures them the best seats in the house.

Accessibility

physically accessible, service dogs welcome, audio description and assisted listening, Braille and large print programs, and ASL interpretation

Bazaar is wheelchair accessible. Bricolage also provides accommodations such as audio description and ASL interpretation through our Immersive Companions program. You can browse our selection of support and comfort equipment by reading our Audience Menu. Bricolage is committed to providing an environment that is inclusive and welcoming to all. Immersive experiences are heavily rooted in the senses and often require movement. As a result, not all experiences are suitable for all patrons and we may need to make adjustments or plan parts of your visit in advance to best suit your needs; telling us about yourself and any concerns you have helps ensure the support you need will be available in Podville and throughout the carnival. We encourage you to identify any concerns you have that may prevent you from having a comfortable experience by leaving a comment when purchasing tickets, calling our office at 412.471.0999, or emailing Fred at fred@bricolagepgh.org.

See What Everyone Else Is Saying

  • "There were plenty of carnival games and performances, including Joseph Kerr the fire breather, acrobatics by ThaCrowBats and fire gypsy Kai Phoenix. DJ Pandemic kept the soundtrack carnival-cool as guests gathered to take a shot at the dunk tank, play ring toss and visit the food trucks."

    – Patricia Sheridan - Pittsburgh Post Gazette
