Submissions

Submit your funny story!

We want to hear your funniest stories!

WordPlay, a quarterly show launching at Bricolage Theater May 31, 2013, is an exciting new storytelling event that is actively seeking submissions.

WordPlay will feature actors, comedy writers and everyday people reading their own  true stories with a live DJ score. Using anything from Bach to Britney Spears, we will work with each performer to develop the perfect soundtrack, creating a rich storytelling experience unlike anything out there today. It’s a true collaborative process, melding the distinct voices of two genres to create something completely new. WordPlay will give Pittsburgh a chance to share its stories in an exciting way.

And the guidelines for submitting are surprisingly simple!  Just email us a story that is:
1) True
2)  Funny (Don't get us wrong, we also love poignant and heartfelt, just have some funny moments.)
3)  Between 1,500 to 2,000 words

Ready to submit? Email submissions and questions to Alan Olifson.

Radio Play Submissions

Bricolage Production Company is now accepting 10-minute radio-play submissions for the upcoming 4th season of Midnight Radio running September through December, 2012.

Midnight Radio is a raucous live comedy series in the style of classic 1940s radio broadcasts, featuring suspenseful action thrillers, vintage sound effects, musical guests, fake breaking news, commercial spoofs, and more.

Each Midnight Radio episode contains radio plays, musical acts, news/social/comic correspondents, original commercials, audience participation segments and a hell of a good time. All underscored by old-school Foley sound effects and live musicians.

Please mail submissions to:
Bricolage Production Company
PO Box 42336
Pittsburgh, PA 15203

Or email them to:
tami@webbricolage.org in .doc, .docx, or .pdf format.

Submissions must be postmarked or emailed by:
June 29, 2012

Format:
Each radio play should be formatted with 18pt Times New Roman font, 1 1/2-spaced, with music highlighted in blue, and sound effects in red. Aside from killer dialogue and super interesting plots, each play should integrate a dynamic aural environment.

We are specifically looking for scripts to fit the following themes: Secret Agents & Spies, Pittsburgh Ghost Stories, and Cult Movie Classics.

Each playwright whose play, commercial or segment is selected for performance will receive a stipend.
